What if I don't know who my advisor is? If you are not sure who your advisor is, stop into the Advising Center and ask.

Do I need an appointment to see an advisor? It is helpful to make appointments with advisors in the Advising Center; however, feel free to drop in, and we will do our best to help you.

What can you expect from an advisor? Typically, advising is provided to help you determine an academic direction that meets your goals. Advising may involve helping you:
- select an academic program
- understand NCC processes and procedures
- select and register for courses
- add /drop a course
- change enrollment status
- withdraw from a course or the school
- transfer to another college
- make sure you have completed graduation requirements
- address academic issues encountered during the semester

When do I register for classes? Registration occurs three times per year. Exact dates for registration are published in the Student Handbook.

What do I need to do to transfer to a four year New Hampshire state college or university? Meet with your advisor, who will help you begin the transfer process, and look at the New Hampshire Transfer Connections website.

How do I obtain an official copy of my transcript? To obtain an official transcript, you must complete an Authorization to Release a Transcript form and submit it to the Registrar's Office (Room 125). Copies of the blank form are found in the Registrar's Office or Online.

What does being in good academic standing mean? Being in good academic standing means that you maintain a high enough cumulative grade point average (CGPA), as defined in the Student Handbook. If your CGPA falls below certain levels, you risk being placed on academic warning, probation, or suspension.

What should I do if I think I am in jeopardy of not being in good academic standing? If you are not in good academic standing, or you think you may fall below the CGPA to be considered in good standing, please come in and meet with your advisor, who is available to lend support and discuss your options.

Why is it important to be in good academic standing? It is important to be in good academic standing because it allows you to be able to hold leadership positions in student organizations, to be eligible for financial aid, and to be a candidate for graduation.
