CLEP Policy

The College-Level Examination Program gives you the opportunity to receive college credit for what you already know. CLEP helps students:

  • *Shorten the time it takes to earn a degree
  • *Save money as the cost of a CLEP exam is $60, a fraction of the tuition for the corresponding course. Note: The cost of the CLEP exam is going up as of July 1, 2008 to $70.00.
  • *Avoid repeating material-skip general introductory courses and move on to more advanced classes.

Nashua CC is an approved CLEP testing site. We charge a $15 administrative fee per test.  Our college awards credits to students who achieve a score of 50 or better on the following tests:

Freshman College Composition Introductory Business Law
French Language Spanish Language
College Mathematics College Algebra
History of the U.S. I History of the U.S. II
Chemistry Biology
Western Civilization I Western Civilization II
Pre-calculus Calculus
Principles of Management Natural Sciences
Macroeconomics Microeconomics
Introductory Psychology Introductory Sociology
Financial Accounting I German

Successful completion of a CLEP exam is treated as a transfer credit. Students may not receive CLEP credits for a course they have attempted and failed. Students cannot be registered for a class when they are taking a CLEP test for that class. If a student does not pass a CLEP test, he/she must wait six months to take it again. Students will need to request that a copy of their scores be sent to Nashua CC for review. This request is made to the College Board during or after the exam.

CLEP exams are administered in the Department of Instructional Services, Room 100. They are taken on a computer and score reports are available immediately after the test. To set up an appointment or for additional information contact Pat Klein at 882-6923, ext. 1450 or pklein@ccsnh.edu.

The CLEP official study guide with sample questions for all 35 exams is available either through the College Board website or by sending email to the organization. To access the web site click here. To send email click here. Also you can order individual study guides as well through the website.
